This social-critical mural depicts the consequences of the German Reunifiction, especially for the East German population.

After an euphoric period a lot of people were disappointed. The joy was tempered with regrets and concerns. César Olhagaray shows squared banana heads with twisted necks refusing to compromise. In an apocalyptical scenery the creatures are depending on machines and capitalism.

César Olhagaray, a leftist who originally comes from Chile and fled to East Germany in 1973 had mixed feelings about the German Reunification. On one hand he welcomed the end of the Communist dictatorship and on the other hand he was sad that socialism had lost all its former prestige.
