Lift Up Your Head

On the top of the arc are sponge fishermen at work while two Junkanoo figures are praying to God and blowing the horn on the buttom.

The mural was inspired by the history of the building. Back in the days the building was a mission church for sponge fishermen. It was built in 1894 and transformed a couple of times. Today it hosts a night club. Munroe worked around the architecture with a dynamic motion to preserve the beauty of the building.

The title "Lift up your head" is part of the Bahamian national anthem. It shows the national pride and also reflects the rich African heritage with all its struggles and challenges.

Munroe remembers to "Lift up your head even if you are going through some trials or tribulations" (Source: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T8PQosTYzRM).
